HOW IT ALL STARTED
Hi! I’m Nathalie — founder of Urban Klik. And here’s how it all began.
I grew up in a small village in France, where as long as I can remember, my parents turned everything into a game. Even cleaning my room became a game (which I never won). That playful spirit stuck with me and is at the heart of Urban Klik.
At 18, I moved to Utrecht. After life in the French countryside, I was blown away by the city! I picked up a camera to capture it all; its energy, its hidden corners.
Then one day in 2019, while out shooting photos, the idea klik-ed: What if photography could be a game?
AND THEN THE IDEA CAME TO LIFE
Because after years of working in Utrecht’s startup scene, organizing events and team-building sessions, I saw firsthand how hard it was to find team activities that felt authentic, and actually fun.
Time for something better. An activity created from passion — playful, personal, and designed to help people truly ‘klik’ with one another.
So in 2020 (yep, that year), I launched the Utrecht Photo Challenge.
And then… lockdown.
But as soon as the world reopened, something special happened. People craved connection. Real, offline connection.
So I quit my job.
And went all in.
FROM SIDE HUSTLE TO 15,000 PLAYERS
What started as a solo project grew into a team of nine enthusiastic game leaders, and Leonie, our go-to contact who’s always there for you.
Fast forward to today: more than 15,000 players have taken on our Challenge. From bachelor(ette) parties to teams from 300+ companies.
And now, in 2025, we’re rebranding as Urban Klik to take things beyond Utrecht. Next stop: Rotterdam!
