FAQ

1. QUESTIONS ABOUT THE CHALLENGE

MOST ASKED

We will start and end at Domplein in Utrecht. The exact meeting point will be sent to you a few days before the challenge.

As of now (September 2025), our game is only available in Utrecht. But we’re working hard on our launch in Rotterdam! We’ll be testing the game in mid-October and expect to go live in November. Want to stay updated on new locations? Follow us on Instagram or LinkedIn, or feel free to get in touch!

Yes! Urban Klik is the new name for Utrecht Photo Challenge.
Since September 2025, we’ve been operating under a fresh new name – but we’re still the same enthusiastic team.

We started in 2020 in Utrecht and are now expanding to other cities.
The name Urban Klik better reflects who we are today and where we’re headed: games in multiple cities, designed to help you truly ‘klik’ with your team. And yes: our name is also a nod to the iconic click of the Polaroid camera, spelled the Dutch way to reflect where we’re coming from.

It takes 2.5 hours total. We’ll start with a briefing, then you’ll have 2 hours to complete the photo challenges, and we’ll end with counting each team’s points and awarding the prize

In case of bad weather, the Challenge will go on; a bit of rain won’t spoil the fun! The game material is water-resistant and there are enough spots along the route to take shelter in case of a shower. Bring an umbrella and/or poncho and we’re ready! In case of extreme weather conditions (e.g. code orange) we’ll keep in touch and decide together whether we want to postpone or cancel the challenge.

The routes are about 4.5 km – if you walk the right direction right away 😉 Our client tell us they walk between 5–7 km to find all the locations.

Unfortunately, we don’t have an office in the city center, so no safe storage space for your belongings. We recommend leaving heavy bags at home or renting a locker at Utrecht Central Station.

HOW TO PREPARE

I advise you to wear good shoes and to bring a bottle of water.

    • By bike:
You can park your bike on Domplein (not guarded).

  • By public transport, Domplein is easily accessible:
    • From Utrecht Central Station, it’s a 15-minute walk.
    • By bus? Get off at Janskerkhof (5 minute walk).
    • It’s also possible to come by car, see the parking garages below.

Springweg garage is the closest to Domplein but it is quite pricey. The parking garage at Hoog Catharijne is more affordable and only a 10-minute walk to Domplein.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

Yes! We will provide you with lamps for you to brighten your Polaroids. Experience the cozy ambiance of Utrecht’s city center lit up at night!

The Challenge is played entirely outside. The meeting point is at Domplein in Utrecht, and in case of rain, we will meet under the Dom tower.

Both for the Classic and Private Challenge, unless otherwise agreed, the following applies:

  • Up to 7 players: you’ll play together in 1 team.
  • From 8 people: you’ll be divided into 2 teams (unless you prefer 1 team).
  • For larger groups, we will divide your group into teams of 7–8 people. We will share the final number of teams with you a few days before the Challenge.

Each team gets a unique route. You may see each other at some points in the city, but you won’t follow each other.

Whether there is time left for breaks really differs per group. Some groups need the full 2 hours to complete all the challenges, while others finish within 1.5 hours. It depends on how familiar you are with Utrecht and how precisely you want to complete the photo challenges. It’s up to you how competitive you are, so if you are okay with skipping one or two pictures, there will for sure be time to sit down for a bit.

The full duration is 2,5 hours (15 minutes for the briefing, 2 hours to complete the challenges and 15 minutes for scoring and announcing the winners). If you have less time, the playing time can be shortened to 1,5 hours. This means you’ll have more time pressure, or you can skip one or two pictures. Note: we can only do this for a Private Challenge!

Of course! 😊 Feel free to create a nice collage. We’d love for you to share your creation on social media (and tag @urbanklik!)

No, we chose to make our game fully offline and analogue, with physical Polaroids, and not send any digital photos after the Challenge. In the past, we offered our clients to purchase the digital photos, but it proved difficult to guarantee the players’ privacy. The camera’s are often used multiple times a day, and we always delete the pictures before giving the camera’s to the next group. Tip: Have your Game Leader take a group photo with your phone or scan the original Polaroids!

Absolutely! The finish line at Domplein is super central, making it easy to go for drinks or dinner afterward.

There’s a time limit on the challenge, so encourage having a drink together, but this fits better afterwards. Find a nice café and chat about your experience!

These are our personal tips for restaurants/bars for groups:

  • Oudaen: beautiful castle, close to Domplein.
  • Lebowski: nice for drinks and bites, pub food. Located directly at Domplein.
  • PK Bar & Kitchen: Nice location on the Oudegracht that focuses on groups.
  • De Rechtbank: A bit more fancy place for lunch or dinner. They also have meeting rooms.
  • A 12 minute walk from Domplein, you will find BUNK (an artsy place, good for groups and close to the central station.

Voor smaller groups, these places are great too:

  • Le Clochard: French restaurants with fireplaces
  • A bit further away, about 15 minutes walking from Domplein, you’ll find my personal favorite restaurant: Cerveceria Boulevard. It’s not very big, so it’s good to ask if you can make a reservation.

ACCESSIBILITY

Definitely! It’s suitable and fun for all ages. We’ve organized our Challenge small children, teens, students, families and colleagues, with players up to 75 years old. Just make sure there’s at least one adult per team to read the map and take photos. You decide how competitive you want to make it. Some teams get super competitive, while groups with small children generally take it easy and enjoy a break here and there. What’s important is you have fun!

Of course! The text on the game materials is written both in Dutch and English, and we can do the briefing in English.

For sure! Our Challenge is very suited for big groups. We’ll divide your group into teams, with each team getting a map, 10 photos to recreate, and a Polaroid camera. Teams have different routes, so you might bump into each other, but you won’t follow the same path. Each team gets to take their Polaroids home—great for a wall collage!

The route is a 5–7 km walk, depending on how many detours you take, with opportunities for short breaks. How much there is time left to rest during the challenge really differs per group, but it’s also up to you how competitive you make it.

Can you decide if it’s manageable based on this information? What’s also possible is for a few players to take a break at a café or on a bench while others finish the last photos.

The game is mostly wheelchair-friendly. We’ve had plenty of players in wheelchairs join in, and they can almost join the entire Challenge. We said ‘almost’, because there are one or two spots in the route that require taking stairs to the canals. In those cases, the wheelchair user may need to wait briefly, perhaps with another teammate? We can also choose the route that minimizes obstacles for wheelchair users. Feel free to get in touch with us in advance!

No problem! We can split your group and work with two different starting times. We’re happy to find the best solution for your team. Request a quote, and we’ll make a personalized offer for you.

Unfortunately, we cannot organize the Challenge for groups smaller than 5. At least 5 players are needed to complete the photo challenges, and smaller groups are not feasible for us as we personally guide each group. The minimum we can do this for is 5 participants.

For groups smaller than 10 people, we organize our Classic Challenge at 2 PM. A Private Challenge can be arranged at a time of your choice but is only available for groups of 8 or more. If your group is fewer than 10, we can still organize a Private Challenge, but we’ll invoice for 8 participants, even if your group is smaller.

TIME / DATE

We ourganize our Classic Challenge at 2 PM. A Private Challenge can be arranged at any time of your choice, for groups of 10 or more. Contact us via email / Whatsapp!

We’ve disabled last-minute bookings on our website because we schedule a game leader to personally guide each Challenge. However, it’s often still possible. Send us an email or WhatsApp us at 0636166713 for a last-minute request.
